And Hasselbaink feels the ex-Everton man’s experience would be a huge asset in a young dressing room.
The Stamford Bridge legend, 54, also believes Stones’ injury record should be ignored as failing to bag European qualification means there will be fewer showdowns in West London.
Hasselbaink told WhoScored: “I would love to see Alonso go and get Stones, who is a free agent.

“It’s from Saturday to Saturday. He will have more rest and he brings a lot of experience as well. He can at least play 30 minutes.”
Stones, 32, was limited to just 439 MINUTES of Premier League action because of his injury hell last season.
But he still bagged a place in England’s World Cup squad and was at the heart of the backline as the Three Lions beat Norway to book their place in the semi-finals.
Thomas Tuchel also included Stones in the starting line-up against Croatia before two more substitute appearances.
Stones made history when he came off the bench against DR Congo – becoming the first player to feature for England when he is without a club.
He enjoyed a trophy-laden spell with Man City, notching six Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups, three FA Cups and the Champions League.
