CHELSEA have reportedly revived their interest in AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan this summer.

The Blues were strongly linked with the France international last year and launched a bid – hoping for a cut-price deal with one year left on his deal.

Maignan was keen on the move and is believed to have agreed personal terms with the Blues as they looked to bring him in before the Club World Cup.

But the move collapsed after Milan attempted to hold out for more and Chelsea refused to increase their bid.

Maignan has since signed a new contract with the Serie A giants until 2031, but he could still leave the club this summer.

According to MilanNews24, Maignan – who currently at the World Cup with France – is open to an exit after the exit of manager Max Allegri.

The report adds that Chelsea have reached out to Maignan’s entourage to test the waters.

It says they are holding talks with the player’s agent Jonathan Kebe to assess whether a deal could be done.

Chelsea are yet to make an offer, the report says, but new boss Ruben Amorim sees Maignan as key to his project and would be reluctant to let him leave.

The Blues are continuing to monitor his situation, it goes on, as new manager Xabi Alonso looks to revamp his options between the sticks.

Chelsea’s current No 1 is Robert Sanchez, but fans are mixed on the former Brighton star.

Sanchez made 98 saves from 35 appearances and kept nine clean sheets as Chelsea finished a disappointing tenth.

He had a much stronger 2025-26 campaign after an error-strewn 2024-25 that saw him make five mistakes leading to goals.

Chelsea’s other options in goal are Filip Jorgensen, who cost £20m when he joined from Villarreal in 2024, and Mike Penders.

Jorgensen played 11 times last season but made a costly blunder in the Champions League last-16 against PSG.

He gifted the ball to Bradley Barcola in his own area before Vitinha lobbed in their 5-2 thrashing – and should have done better for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia‘s final tap-in.

Alonso – who left Real Madrid earlier this year – has a big task ahead of him after the Blues ended the season with no European football.

He also has a number of stars who are being linked with exits this summer, including midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The Argentine is being linked with both Manchester City and his old club Madrid.
