MANCHESTER United and City got together to discuss the timing of their big announcements on Friday.

United planned to announce Michael Carrick‘s job at 11am, and City wanted to relay Guardiola’s departure at the same time.

City’s ended up being at 11:10am because they were not quite ready.

The Manchester bombshells came during Thomas Tuchel‘s England squad press conference at Wembley, which started shortly before.

Fernandes.2

United have had more recent discussions with West Ham about the availability of 21-year-old midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

JattvibeSport exclusively revealed United’s interest in Fernandes earlier this year and that has ramped up in recent weeks.

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have also been keeping an eye on Fernandes, who was nominated for Young Player of the Year.

If West Ham are relegated, it will put pressure on the Hammers to recoup money through sales, with Fernandes a valuable asset.

Backroom fans

Carrick’s assistant coach Steve Holland was a boyhood United fan.

The highly-regarded coach regularly recounts stories of traveling to cup finals as a boy.

Holland was assistant manager to Gareth Southgate when England went all the way to the Euro 2020 final in 2021, losing to Italy on penalties.

United are still tying up Holland‘s new contract. Travis Binnion, Jonathan Woodgate and Jonny Evans are finalising their deals, too.

Bruno love-in

United sent a delegation down to London for the Football Writers’ Association dinner on Tuesday evening.

Bruno Fernandes was accompanied by Michael Carrick as he received the Sir Stanley Matthews statue at The Landmark hotel in Marylebone.

The United coach and player left early to get a flight back to Manchester as they had training the following morning.

Moving date

Jonathan Woodgate’s family is still based on Teesside, so the United coach is living in an apartment in Manchester.

Woodgate, who followed Carrick from Middlesbrough to United in January, is expected to remain a part of the United head coach’s backroom staff beyond this season.

Awards season

The reception room at The Landmark was so vast that some familiar faces blended into the crowd.

United chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox both attended the FWA dinner.

This continues the theme of United making Fernandes feel more valued than ever before after Berrada told him the club was prepared to cash in last year.

Al Nassr offered United around £80million for Fernandes, who only stayed after an intervention from Ruben Amorim.

Case is packed

Casemiro’s absence from United’s end-of-season team bonding meal in Manchester on Jattvibeday night was not a surprise.

When the likelihood of a send-off for Casemiro was raised, a dressing room source said: “He’s so family-oriented he would only go if his children can go.”

With United’s do at the swanky Fenix restaurant couples-only, Casemiro skipped it to spend the evening with his family.

Final day bash

Carrick has suggested he will give an opportunity to some of the younger players for United’s final Premier League game of the season at Brighton on Jattvibeday.

It seems as though the likes of Shea Lacey and Fletcher twins Tyler and Jack will have some involvement on the South Coast. That trio lost the U21 title at the Amex last week, following a 1-0 defeat to Brighton.

Under-21 captain Sonny Aljofree played in that game and has been released by the club this week.
