Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday inaugurated development projects worth Rs 150 crore in Tanda Urmur, announcing road upgrades, improved connectivity and enhanced healthcare facilities in the Kandi region.Addressing a gathering, he said education was the key to eliminating poverty and social issues. “No freebie or concessions can eliminate poverty or other social maladies. Education is the key that can pull people out of this vicious cycle by raising their standard of living,” he said.“The taxpayers’ money is being judiciously used for the welfare of people. Tax money is coming back to the people through various development projects, including schools, hospitals and roads. Though the AAP government has fulfilled all its guarantees, efforts are on to ensure further progress of the state,” he added.The projects launched on Wednesday include the upgradation and strengthening of link roads across Tanda Urmur, construction of a bridge connecting the Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road to Gurdwara Rampur Khera, setting up state-of-the-art health and wellness centres in Kandhalan Shekhan, Rajpur, Dhugga Kalan, Prempur, Giljian and Jahura villages. An urban primary health centre at Garhdiwala and a water supply project at Talwandi Daddian have also been launched.The CM said, “The region has suffered prolonged neglect. Link roads will be renovated and upgraded in Tanda Urmur and a high-level bridge will be constructed to improve connectivity.”He said, “Modern health and wellness centres are being developed in six villages to ensure that quality medical facilities reach people’s doorstep.” The state had already operationalised 990 Aam Aadmi Clinics, offering free medicines and diagnostic tests, with plans to open 400 more such centres, he said.Mann also highlighted the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana and the state’s achievements in the education sector.He accused Opposition parties, particularly the Shiromani Akali Dal, of neglecting the region and misleading people for decades. AAP’s Punjab incharge Manish Sisodia said, “The overwhelming response of the people reflects their love for AAP and CM Bhagwant Mann… He is the most popular and hardworking CM of the state.”
