The CBI, in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Embassy of India (Thailand), has successfully secured the deportation of Ganesh Balaso Kale from Thailand to India, officials said on Thursday. Earlier, an Interpol Red Notice had been issued against him.Kale was wanted in connection with a cyberfraud, wherein the victims were lured by the offer of online part-time jobs. According to the CBI probe, the victims were asked to make monetary investments and later defrauded. Besides, Kale used to operate a network of cybercriminals by involving unsuspecting persons in the scam. He lured individuals by promising interest and commission in exchange for allowing the use of their bank accounts for transfer of illicit funds and subsequently utilised these accounts to cheat innocent victims.Additionally, he instructed the co-accused to arrange mobile phones and procure fake SIM cards to facilitate these offences.After the Interpol issued a Red Notice against him, he was located in Thailand and detained by the Thai authorities in Bangkok on May 24.Following due legal proceedings and close coordination between the Indian and Thailand authorities, the accused was successfully deported to India. Kale arrived in Mumbai on Thursday and was taken into custody by officials of the Cyber Cell, Maharashtra Police.
