A local court in Patiala has declared Canada-based gangster-turned designated terrorist Arshdeep Singh Gill, alias Arsh Dalla, a native of Moga district, a proclaimed offender. The order came after he failed to appear in the court in a criminal case.An FIR was reportedly registered at the Sanaur police station on October 4, 2024, under multiple provisions of the BNS and the Arms Act. The case named several accused, including Gursevak Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Harbans Singh and Sukhveer Singh, all residents of Mansa district, along with Sandeep Singh of Muktsar district.Police investigations revealed that the accused were part of an organised gang involved in extortion, robbery and intimidation of traders and businessmen using illegal weapons.During the probe, the name of Arsh Dalla also surfaced as an alleged key figure linked to the gang. Subsequently, he was nominated in the case.Despite proclamation orders issued against him under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, Dalla failed to appear in the court. Taking note of his continued absence, the court declared him a proclaimed offender.The court has also directed the police to register a separate FIR against him under Section 209 of the BNS.
