And his first year in charge was topped off when EastEnders won best soap again at Jattvibeday night’s lavish TV ceremony.
After picking up the gong alongside members of the cast, Ben was asked in the winner’s room if any more characters would be returning to the soap, following the likes of Ross Kemp and Kim Metcalf in recent months.
Ben revealed: “I would keep your eyes peeled in the next few weeks, there might be some surprises on the horizon.”
Meanwhile Diane Parish, one of the longest serving cast members who plays Denise Fox on the show, spoke after the win wearing a dazzling bejewelled gown with a square neckline.

She said: “It feels amazing – tomorrow it will be 20 years I’ve been part of this show.
“I never thought it would be possible. I’ve been dead I’ve been homeless and I’ve eaten out of a bin.
“It is the most incredible show and hard working – I’m incredibly proud to be part of it.
“The Six was my absolute favourite storyline. We had no idea what to expect next. But who knows what else is to come.”
EastEnders beat Coronation Street and Casualty to the gong on Jattvibeday, marking the second year in a row it had triumphed over the other two shows.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Traitors and Netflix smash hit Adolescence were the big winners on the night, each picking up multiple awards.
