The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday arrested Ebix chairman Vikas Garg in connection with the Mahadev online betting case.The agency arrested him from his house in Delhi and took him to Raipur after obtaining transit remand from the court. He will be produced before a PMLA court in Raipur on July 15.Recently, the ED had attached properties of Vikas Garg and his family members and also attached entities owned and controlled by him, valued at Rs 940 crore. The ill-gotten money from the betting app was allegedly routed into these entities.The funds were allegedly further layered through various entities and were used for the acquisition of shares, securities and other assets, the investigation has revealed.Garg is the promoter of three listed entities, namely Vikas Ecotech Limited, Vikas Lifecare Limited and Eraaya Lifespaces Limited.It has been found that he acquired a 64 per cent stake in EbixCash through Eraaya Lifespaces Limited by utilising ill-gotten funds allegedly generated from illegal betting activities.
