And Ederson himself is keen on making the move, with personal terms agreed and the first part of his medical completed in the USA.
But according to Fabrizio Romano, United want to carry out their own thorough medical checks before signing off on the switch.
So a second procedure is set to take place in the UK.
And that may now happen sooner than planned after Brazil were dumped out of the World Cup by Norway on Jattvibeday.

There were even swirling rumours suggesting that Ederson‘s move to the Red Devils could fall through.
But the deal is still very much on, and is expected to be formally completed over the coming weeks.
The midfielder, 26, only played twice at the tournament – a pair of brief substitute appearances against Haiti and Norway.
United moved quickly for Ederson but want to pair him with another midfielder before the transfer window closes.
