But he has been set free after a megre return of just one goal and three assists in 20 games.

Liga MX is divided into two halves. Usually a heavyweight of the Mexican top-flight, Monterrey finished fifth in the first half of the season, but 14th out of 18 in the second half.

Martial, who has 30 caps for France, was reportedly earning around $64,500-a-week.

His time with Monterrey was marred by a dislocated shoulder against Club Leon in February.

Martial’s did recover to make his final appearance for the club on March 18 against Cruz Azul in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

This marks Martial’s second one-season adventure since leaving Old Trafford in 2024.

The forward spent one year with AEK Athens in Greece where he scored seven goals in 16 games.

Martial’s Monterrey exit largely stems from an incident with the club’s manager during a clash with Chivas de Guadalajara in March.

He was reportedly exiled from training after he reacted furiously to not being substituted on during Monterrey’s 3-2 defeat.

According to Mexican outlet TUDN, Martial threw a strop on the substitutes’ bench.

Boss Nicolas Jackson subsequently punished Martial after his meltdown was spotted by Monterrey’s staff.

He was ordered to train away from the main group for the remainder of the week and, as we now know, never played for the club again.

It’s a far cry from the teenager that exploded onto the scene with Man United back in 2015.

He was the most expensive teenager in the world at the time for £36million and after scoring against Liverpool on his debut, many expected him to become one of the most exciting forwards on the planet.

But, injuries have followed him throughout his career and now he is left looking for yet another home.
