A blast occurred in a parked two-wheeler (a Yamaha scooter) outside the BSF Frontier Headquarters in Jalandhar Cantt on Tuesday evening.The incident occurred around 8 pm when Gurpreet, a delivery boy working with a private company, had come to deliver a parcel to a BSF personnel.While he had gone inside to deliver the parcel, a powerful explosion ripped through his scooter, destroying it and shattering the window panes of a nearby building.Police suspect the blast may have been caused by explosives in a parcel that had not yet been delivered and was still kept in a box on the scooter. The incident triggered widespread panic in the area.Vendors and shoppers at a nearby sabzi mandi, located a few hundred metres from the BSF headquarters, said the explosion was so loud it could be heard up to a kilometre away.Senior police officials have begun an investigation, questioning the delivery boy for further details.
