The tragedy unfolded in River Oaks, a wealthy Houston suburb, on Monday evening.
Police said they were called to the home shortly after 5:26 pm.
The victims were a mother, father, and two children.
Their identities have not yet been released.

Officers went to the address and entered the home and found all four family members dead.

Officials have not yet released details on how the family died.
It was also not immediately clear how long they had been dead before officers arrived.
Neighbors were left stunned by the tragedy.
One neighbor told CBS affiliate KHOU11, “It’s very sad, I shake for the little kids and the family.
“We don’t know all the details, but it’s just a tragedy.”
Another neighbor told Click2Houston the incident was unlike anything they had seen in the area.
“I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 19 years and never seen anything like this,” they said.
“We haven’t had these kind of tragedies.
“We don’t have robberies. We have incredible constables in this neighborhood, but it’s very sad.”
ABC News reported that some neighbors believed the mother was pregnant.
Police did not confirm that detail during a press conference.
The investigation remains ongoing.
