The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has lodged a formal complaint with the Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of the Delhi Police over a series of coordinated cyberattacks targeting its post result services portal. The board said the attacks were successfully mitigated and that no data breach or unauthorised access to its systems had been detected. The CBSE said, “The portal, launched on June 2 to facilitate services such as verification and re-evaluation of answer scripts for candidates who had appeared in the Class XII Board Examination, was subjected to repeated and coordinated cyberattacks over the past three days.”It added that the attacks involved large volumes of malicious traffic originating from multiple IP addresses within and outside the country.“The apparent objective of the attackers appeared to destabilise the platform, deny access to legitimate users, and attempt unauthorised extraction of information by elements inimical to national interest,” the CBSE noted.Seeking legal action and a detailed probe, the CBSE has approached the IFSO Unit of the Delhi Police. However, the board maintained that its systems remain secure despite the attacks.“It is emphasised that despite these malicious attempts, the CBSE’s systems and databases remain secure and uncompromised. No data breach or unauthorised access has been detected,” it added. The board further said the attacks were contained through round-the-clock monitoring and response mechanisms. It credited cybersecurity teams from IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Madras, Digital India Corporation, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), CERT-In and other Central Government agencies for supporting mitigation efforts. The CBSE said it would continue to monitor the situation closely while cooperating with investigating agencies.
