In a major churn in opposition politics, the DMK has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla requesting a change of seating arrangement and conveying that they would no longer be able to sit with the Congress MPs.”In view of the changed political circumstances and the fact that our alliance with the government has come to an end, it may not be appropriate for us to continue occupying the same seating arrangement alongside the Congress,” K Kanimozhi of DMK wrote to Birla today, signalling the first public cracks in the Congress-led INDIA bloc alliance. She had requested a separate seating arrangement for members of the DMK parliamentary party in the Lok Sabha to discharge the functions as MPs effectively. The DMK has publicly expressed its anger at the Congress over betrayal of the pre-poll alliance to offer support to Joseph Vijay of the TVK for government formation. The BJP was quick to take a swipe at the Opposition and said INDIA bloc “is no more”.”INDI is now history. The Congress has always believed in use and throw. From 2004 to 2014, the Congress ate the goods of corruption, gave jail to its allies, especially woman MP Kanimozhi and A Raja. Congratulations to DMK party for bringing out the true face of the Congress at the right time,” BJP leader Nishikant Dubey said today, reacting to Kanimozhi’s letter to Birla.Earlier today, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav met DMK chief MK Stalin and in a veiled jibe at the Congress said, “We are not the ones who abandon each other in times of difficulty.”Akhilesh posted this remark on X as a caption to two images showing him meeting TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and DMK chief Stalin. Both ruling parties have been voted out in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. While the BJP has swept Bengal, Vijay’s party has emerged as the single largest party in Tamil Nadu pushing traditional Dravidian players DMK and AIADMK to the second and third slots.
