MY son drives a Polo. His best mate drives a Polo. Another mate has an Ibiza. Which is basically a Polo.
They are going to want an ID Polo next. So will many of you.

As expected, ID Polo is instantly recognisable on the outside (like Golf and 911, you don’t rip up a winning formula) but with a fresh, tailored cabin that moves the game on considerably.
We’ve mentioned some of the little details before but they’re worth repeating.
The driver’s display can be set to classic speedo and rev-counter dials from a Mk1 Golf, along with an Eighties cassette tape in the central touchscreen. Class.
There’s a clothing-like seam running across the doors, with a Volkswagen tab on the end. Also class.

The sound system is Harman Kardon. I always worry I’m going to get that muddled up and say Karman Hardon. But it’s top quality.
The cabin is a fraction bigger in all directions. The 441-litre boot is bigger than a Golf. You can have massaging seats and a big glass roof.
I’m fully expecting ID Polo to start around £22k-£23k when VW fires up the configurator in July – much like its twin, Cupra’s Raval.

I’ll report back when I drive it in a month or so.
