The Crime Branch Sector-26 team arrested Rashpal Singh alias Lali, a resident of Tarn Taran district, Punjab, at a checkpoint near Pyarewala village on the Raipur Rani-Naraingarh road. Police seized 538 grams of heroin from his vehicle, with an estimated market value of Rs 1.05 crore. A case has been registered against him under Section 21C of the NDPS Act at the Raipur Rani police station.Police said the accused had long been involved in drug trafficking. He allegedly brought heroin from Punjab and supplied it in the Panchkula area. He was produced in court on April 24 and remanded to police custody for three days. Police later secured a further four-day remand to gather more information and trace his main supplier. The accused, a former state-level kabaddi player, has two criminal cases registered against him in Punjab, including attempted murder and fraud.According to police, the accused shared important information about his main supplier. Based on this, teams are conducting raids at possible locations. More arrests in the network are expected soon.The DCP, Crime and Traffic, said that in less than four months of 2026, police have registered 37 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 58 drug traffickers, including 18 main suppliers. Of these, 10 cases involved commercial quantities and 27 involved intermediate quantities.He added that during this period, police seized 5.141 kg of heroin, 27 kg of poppy husk, 6.296 kg of ganja, 1.558 kg of charas, 710 grams of opium, and 40,200 banned intoxicant tablets, with a total estimated value of around Rs 8.85 crore.Additionally, properties of three drug traffickers — Amar Singh of Pinjore, Sultan of Panchkula, and Abhishek of Uttar Pradesh, currently living in Sector-14, Panchkula — built with drug money were demolished using bulldozers.
