HARRY MAGUIRE is “greedy” for Manchester United to make more signings – as the extra firepower is key to chasing down trophies.
Despite the risk to his own starting spot, the former England defender claims that squad depth and team success come first.

Boss Michael Carrick said he “wants and needs” more signings before the close of the window on September 1.
United have so far experienced a quieter window than many expected, with just three signings in Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

Maguire told Sky Sports: “When you play for this club, you want competition for places and it’s so important that we have a huge squad.
“I’m at an age now where they can bring in as many as they want, bring in all the best players.

“I want to win all the trophies and be greedy about it, but it’s up to the club.”
Seven years at Old Trafford have yielded a Carabao Cup and an FA Cup, but a Premier League title chase remains out of reach without fresh talent.
United bosses urge patience while promising fresh blood within two weeks, but Maguire’s centre-back department is set to stay the same.
Ineos bosses are in the market for a left back and a midfielder as they enter the final 13 days of the window.

The club have held informal discussions with Newcastle full back Lewis Hall’s camp, but the Toon are not prepared to sell the 21-year-old.
United distanced themselves from Arsenal‘s left back Myles Lewis-Skelly as an alternative but consider his asking price to be too high.
Maguire, who signed a one-year extension in April, added: “I’m sure they’re working hard out there to try and bring in the right players. The more, the merrier.
“The stronger squad that we have, the more opportunity we have of winning these trophies and that’s what it’s all about when you play for this club.
“We’ve got a good depth of squad, they’re working hard on helping us and bringing more in.”
City, Tottenham and Chelsea have all spent at least £100m on a signing and newly-promoted Ipswich have outspent United so far this summer.
United invested £85m on Santos and Tielemans, having baulked at the valuation of the £116m Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, who moved to Tottenham for £85m.
Carrick said United are targeting “something special” this season after a third place finish last term and returning to the Champions League for the first time since 2023/2024.
Maguire added: “We want to improve on last season. Everyone wants to win the Premier League, that is going to be our aim, that’s what this club demands.
“We have the belief we can be really competitive and we can beat anyone on our day. It’s going to be an exciting season.”
Entering his eighth season in Manchester, Maguire has weathered an emotional rollercoaster—from brief highs under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the polarising Erik ten Hag era to the record low tenure of Ruben Amorim.
Maguire added: “During my time at the club, we’ve had some close groups – no doubt this is one of the closest.
“Spending time together and winning football matches brings teams closer.
“Losing that Europa League final, finishing 15th to finishing third and putting the club back in the Champions League, it was a good season but we can’t stop here.”
