The Haryana government has appointed senior advocate Pawan Kumar Mutneja as its Advocate General.The post fell vacant after Pravindra Kumar Chauhan was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday. The same day, the government cleared Mutneja’s name.The notification issued on August 21 said, “In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 165(1) of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Haryana is pleased to appoint Pawan Kumar Mutneja, Senior Advocate, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, as Advocate General for the State of Haryana with immediate effect.”The terms and conditions of Mutneja’s appointment will be issued later, the notification said.He had served as Additional Advocate General in Haryana from 1996 to 1999.A pass-out of Lawrence School, Sanawar, he did his LLB from Shri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi and LLB from Rajasthan University.His LinkedIn profile says he has handled cases involving various areas of law, including civil, criminal and company law, land acquisition, arbitration, consumer protection and service laws.He has appeared in the Supreme Court of India and various other High Courts, including the Delhi High Court, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Himachal Pradesh High Court and Uttarakhand High Court, his profile added.
