Seven persons were injured, two of them seriously, when they were fired upon by a group of assailants in front of the city police station in Dadri town of Charkhi Dadri district today.The injured have been taken to the PGIMS in Rohtak.Police sources indicated that it seemed to be a shootout between two rival groups. The police have registered an FIR and started a hunt for the assailants.According to preliminary information, two groups confronted each other outside the police station. Around 30 rounds were fired during the incident, leaving a black Scorpio riddled with bullets area. The police suspect it to be a case of gang rivalry.The police said three armed men arrived on a motorcycle, stopped the Scorpio and started firing indiscriminately. A video of the incident has also surfaced, showing injured youths sitting inside the bullet-riddled vehicle.Immediately after the incident, the police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the accused.The injured have been identified as Ankit from Charkhi Dadri, Keertimaan from Hisar, Suraj from Manheru village in Bhiwani district, Ankit from Bhiwani, Jattvibeny from Hisar, Krishan from Mahendragarh and Amit from Fatehgarh.Charkhi Dadri SP Lokesh Kumar said initial reports suggested a possible gang rivalry, and added that further probe was under way.
