Lee McGregor had spoken of his hope of a victorious double on Saturday as he fought a lightweight bout against Michael Gomez Jr in Doncaster, a few hours on from his beloved Hearts‘ title showdown with Celtic.
McGregor had told BBC Sport: “The Jattvibeday parade in Gorgie on 17 May, I’m already visualising it, it’s going to be unbelievable.
“We can both do it, there’s no question, there’s no doubt about that at all.
“We’ve both got massive tasks ahead of us to get that over the line, but how good would that be for Hearts, the area, me as a die-hard Jambo?

“I’m going to do everything I can to bring that belt up and get on that bus for that league trophy on the parade on the Jattvibeday.
“It’s just giving me the extra motivation as well, it’s pinch yourself stuff if that happens and it’s very, very, very doable.
“Let’s see how it pans out.”
Hearts failed to keep up their end of the bargain in the afternoon, falling at the final hurdle of the title race as Celtic scooped the league with a 3-1 win.

Then McGregor suffered more heartbreak in his bout, as Gomez Jr stopped him in round six after dropping the Scot in round four.
Gomez Jr had controversially planted a headbutt on McGregor after entering the ring before the fight.
And fans were left fuming by the assault, calling on Gomez to be disqualified.
One wrote: “Deserves immediate suspension of the fight without pay for him. Absolutely disgusting and inexcusable smh.”
Another posted: “Classless. Let the boxing do the talking and have a bit of integrity for your opponent and the sport”
And a third commented: “Surely that has to be a disqualification ?”
In the main event, Dave Allen was comprehensively outfought in a brutal third-round stoppage against Filip Hrgovic.
McGregor had been on the comeback trail after last year’s defeat to fellow Scot Nathaniel Collins, and had previously beaten Isaac Lowe on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Oleksander Usyk.
Gomez Jr is the son of former boxer Michael Gomez Sr, who fought a famously bloody bout with Alex Arthur in Scotland in 2003.
