Gangster Vinod Pannu alias Vinod Kana of Thurana village in Hisar district was shot dead by two unidentified assailants at the main entrance of the Hisar court complex on Thursday afternoon.According to reports, Pannu, along with some aides, was leaving the court complex after appearing in a criminal case.As he stepped out near the parking lot, two motorcycle-borne assailants approached and opened fire at him from close range. Eyewitnesses said around 10 to 12 rounds were fired.Pannu was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he died during treatment.Sources said the assailants also fired two shots in the air while fleeing the spot. However, one of the two assailants was reportedly overpowered by some people and also suffered injuries.According to police, around 31 criminal cases, including murder cases, were registered against Pannu, who was considered one of the most-wanted gangsters in Hisar.He was also allegedly involved in the murder of the nephew of the personal assistant of MLA Savitri Jindal.The incident triggered panic in the court complex, with police teams reaching the spot and beginning an investigation to identify the assailants and ascertain their whereabouts.
