Canada romped to a 6-0 win over the Middle East nation, but the horror injury cast a shadow over the performance.
Kone, 24, was caught by Qatar midfielder Assim Madibo in the 53rd minute.
The Sassuolo star was left badly hurt and was stretchered off the pitch in front of an emotional Marsch.
The former Leeds manager has admitted that he heard the player’s bone snap from the sideline.

Speaking after the game, Marsch said: “[You] could hear the bone snap.
“Your heart goes out to him. Everybody’s shaken for him.”
Marsch, 52, also insisted that Kone is a “huge loss” for the team which looks set to reach the knockout rounds.
The Canada boss shared a touching moment with the ace as he was carried off the pitch.

Kone will be expected to miss the next four to five months and is due for surgery.
Marsch added: “Ismael is such a great kid. He’s so imperfect but that’s why you love him.
“He can do great things and the next moment he loses concentration. He embodies a lot of what the team is. It’s a huge loss for us.
“He’ll be fine, we’ll get him good doctors. He’s got a big future and he’s a big part of everything we’ll do.”

Kone managed to wave to the crowd as he was taken away on the stretcher.
He was rushed straight to hospital for further checks and tests with doctors.
Marsch has also revealed that Madibo came to the Canadian dressing room to apologise for his tackle.
Hat-trick hero Jonathan David was critical of the challenge, which he saw “no point” too.

He said: “If there’s a play where you cannot win the ball, there’s no point.
“It’s just to hurt people.”
Madibo was sent off for the challenge as Qatar were reduced to NINE men.
Homam Ahmed had been sent off earlier in the match as he had a yellow card overturned to a red in the first half.
