WANT to make your tan last? Then keeping your skin hydrated is a must – but heavy, sticky lotions in hot, humid weather are uncomfortable.

Here are three lightweight options, at every price point.

Budget

Mixa Urea Cica Repair Body Lotion is nourishing without being oily or thick Credit: Supplied

Mixa Urea Cica Repair Body Lotion, £8.99 for 400ml, boots.com

I’ve used up at least three bottles of this over the last six months – which must say something on how much I rate this product.

Thank you!

The formula is nourishing without being oily or thick, and it spreads easily over skin so you don’t have to work hard to rub it in.

There’s a very light scent which isn’t at all overpowering and doesn’t compete with my perfume.

When I shower the next day, I can feel the protective barrier washing away despite there being no sticky or greasy residue.

Mid-range

Naturium Bio-Lipid Body Lotion has an XXL pump for quicker application Credit: Supplied

Naturium Bio-Lipid Body Lotion, £18 for 414ml, spacenk.com

I’ve long been a fan of the body wash in the same range, but tried this via a travel-size sample on a recent trip and immediately purchased a full-sized bottle when I returned home.

It’s the thickest of the three and the best of the lot if you have super-dry skin.

Thanks to the combination of glycerin, squalane, panthenol and camellia, it soothes skin on contact and provides long-lasting hydration.

The XXL pump is a bonus and makes application quicker.

Luxury

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Hydrating Body Lotion’s downside is its packaging Credit: Supplied

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Hydrating Body Lotion, £29 for 380ml, boots.com

This is the body lotion that convinced me I should moisturise the skin below my chin on a daily basis, and it’s still one of my favourites.

It feels thick when you pump it into your hand, but immediately melts into skin like butter and makes a visible difference from the first use.

The only downside is the packaging, which makes it hard to finish the product inside without taking the lid off and smacking it on your hand to avoid waste.

A tube would make the process easier!
