Director General of Police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav on Tuesday confirmed that an improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the blast outside the Army cantonment area in Khasa last night. He said the police have obtained vital clues and a technical investigation is under way to identify and arrest the suspects.Yadav said that the incident appeared to be a planned strike by ISI-backed anti-national forces in Pakistan, coinciding with the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor.“We are in a state of proxy war with Pakistan. Being a border state, Punjab is at the forefront of this war unleashed against our country,” he said.He added that Pakistan-based elements were attempting to create a false narrative portraying Punjab as a disturbed state, luring youth and circulating videos of grenades before targeting vital installations and police establishments. The DGP visited the blast site at Khasa and held meetings with Army and BSF officials to review security measures in the border belt.He added that both the recent blasts in Jalandhar and Amritsar involved the use of IEDs, though any link between the two incidents is yet to be established.
