The schedule for it will be announced later.A senior leader privy to the development said a meeting of senior Punjab Congress leaders had been called on Tuesday to work out the schedule of the padyatras.“The Assembly-wise padyatras will be rolled out from May-end. Every foot march will be led by a senior state-level leader. The dates for it will be decided after discussion with the top party leadership.Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said the party had prepared an elaborate plan in the run-up to the elections.Warring slams drug censusThe Congress also opposed the AAP government’s proposal to carry out a drug and socio-economic census in the state, questioning its real purpose and warning that it would stigmatise entire Punjab.Warring said it was an attempt to collect demographic by AAP ahead of the elections at the cost of the exchequer.Questioning the logic of such a census, he said affected families would be hesitant to tell enumerators if any of their members consumed drugs. “It is a strictly private and confidential matter and nobody would like to go public about it,” he said.He said the Health Department already had the number of drug addicts in the state. The state Congress chief alleged that ruling AAP wanted to collect the data for use in the Assembly election campaign.
