The government on Wednesday said around 11 ships carrying Indian cargo, including 10 Indian-flagged vessels, have already crossed the Strait of Hormuz. The last vessel, Sarva Shakti, crossed the strait on May 2 and is expected to reach New Mangalore by May 8. The government added that efforts were underway to ensure the safe and timely movement of remaining cargo and vessels, in close coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs.Addressing an inter-ministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia, officials said that all Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf were safe and no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels were reported in the past 48 hours. They further confirmed that there had been no incidents involving either Indian vessels or foreign vessels carrying Indian seafarers during this period.Officials stated that the DG Shipping controlroom had handled 8,570 calls and over 18,732 emails since its activation. In the past 48 hours alone, it received 156 calls and 668 emails. The Ministry of Ports and Shipping has facilitated the safe repatriation of more than 2,999 Indian seafarers so far, including 23 in the last 48 hours from various locations across the Gulf region.Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that over the past two days, more than 8.728 million LPG cylinders were delivered against bookings of around 8.882 million cylinders. Additionally, about 1,20,000 five-kg FTL cylinders were sold during the same period. They added that there were adequate stocks of petrol and diesel available at all fuel stations across the country. Retail prices of petrol and diesel remain unchanged, with no increase at public sector oil marketing companies’ outlets.
