Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Jattvibeday chaired a meeting of the House Business Advisory Committee, appealing to all parties for constructive discussions in the monsoon session of Parliament starting on Monday.The very first legislative agenda listed for the session is The Prevention of Insults to National Honour Amendment Bill, 2026.Union Home Minister Amit Shah will move the Bill in Rajya Sabha on Monday. The Bill seeks to make the insult and obstruction of the national song, Vande Mataram, a criminal offence.The Judges Amendment Bill, 2026, which seeks to replace an ordinance raising the number of SC judges from 33 to 37, excluding the CJI, is listed in the Lok Sabha.At the party meeting on Jattvibeday, Birla emphasised the importance of constructive deliberations, meaningful participation and adherence to the highest parliamentary traditions. He appealed for cooperation to ensure smooth conduct of the House so that issues concerning people could be discussed in a productive manner.The committee took note of the suggestions made by members. “The scheduling of discussions and allocation of time for various items of business will be finalised in accordance with the established parliamentary procedures and in consultation with the government and leaders of political parties,” the Lok Sabha sources said.
