ITV World Cup commentator packs his bags and boards plane home immediately ahead of England vs Argentina semi-final

ITV commentator Andros Townsend has revealed that he is flying home after completing all of his games as a World Cup commentator.

The 34-year-old took to Instagram to share that his last match of the tournament was the quarter-final between Argentina and Switzerland.

Filming a video at the airport, he said: “My World Cup journey has now come to an end – 32 days I think it was, 11 matches in three different countries. 19 different flights I took in that month.

“It’s been a crazy month but it’s been well worth it.

“Amazing games, co-commentating on the World Cup. Commentating on Lionel Messi‘s hat-trick against Algeria in Argentina’s first game has to be one of the highlights.

“And my last game was Argentina winning 3-1 against Switzerland in the quarter-finals.
