SUMMER is well and truly here and for many people, including myself, exercise has stepped up and become that little bit harder.

That’s partly because we’re all looking to get holiday-ready, and partly because of the soaring temperatures.

With the workouts becoming more intense, we need to make sure that recovery is being considered so we don’t end up injured or too tired to train.

And thanks to the Skinvity at-home pressotherapy device, I have been able to do that with ease.

Skinvity’s PressTech is: “An air-based body pressotherapy device, designed to offer the benefits of professional pressotherapy treatments, traditionally only found in clinics and beauty centers, in the comfort of your home.”

It uses: “Air pressure applied through ergonomic pants (*trousers to us UK users) with 6 overlapping pneumatic chambers, stimulating blood and lymphatic circulation, helping to reduce fluid retention and toxins, improve skin appearance, relieve tired or heavy legs, and contribute to weight loss processes.”

Les Mills’ The Works is perfect training partner – with price slashed by £250

can’t beat it
My days of working out in silence are over thanks to ingenious Powerbeats Fit

I have been using the pressotherapy device for the last few months after some runs and strenuous exercise.

It’s been a brilliant addition to recovery and one that I would definitely recommend – although it will come at a cost…

Pros:

Easy to use

Clear instructions

Several different programs/modes to try

Comes with its own case and is easy to store

Portable

Beneficial for recovery

A session can be completed in just 15 minutes

Can be used several times on a single charge

Cons:

Expensive

May need a plug adapter if based in the UK – the plug included is two pins and one that can be used elsewhere in Europe

In terms of assembling the product for use, the plastic ends on the Y connector that connects the air tubes to the main control unit can be stiff and difficult to plug in and unplug.

Rating: 9/10

Quickfire Q&A

How much is it?
Currently available for £979.00, down from £1109.99, at Selfridges.
Who is it best for?
People who exercise regularly and want to enhance their recovery. Also for people who need/want to improve blood circulation in the legs.
What did we love?
It’s easy to use and comes with its own storage case, making it simple to store and portable. It is also great to have after strenuous exercise, such as running, to aid with recovery. The product can also be used several times on a single charge.
What didn’t we love?
The only negative to this product is the price – but it is now available at a reduced cost and can be paid for in installments at Selfridges.

First impressions

When opening the box, the first thing you see is the storage case. Everything included and everything you need is in there.

It can look slightly confusing when first emptying the bag and laying everything out, but after a quick look at the instructions I managed to assemble the compression trousers and get them ready for use within a matter of minutes.

There are six different modes that can be used; circulatory health, intense lymphatic drainage, double wave massage, full pressure/deep relaxation and muscle recovery, combined/dual and full experience.

For my first go, I did the full experience for 15 minutes at a level of 80mmHg – I didn’t want to go too high on the pressure to start and the manual stated that beginner level was deemed between 30 and 90.

It was a great way to test it out and afterwards I found it very easy to disassemble the trousers from the air pipes and control unit before packing it all away.

I had no issues when it came to fitting everything back into the storage case – it was all easy to do.

Does it deliver?

Yes. I have been using the pressotherapy device after doing strenuous physical activity and a lot of running and I have found that it has been beneficial for recovery.

The higher the pressure, the better the massaging on the legs which helps muscle weakness.

I will say, however, that I did go to 120mmHg and that resulted in one of the pipes bursting off and a noise that made it sound like I had exploded.

It didn’t break the trousers or the pipe – and I have to admit, I did find it funny – but it’s something to be mindful of if you do decide to buy.

The product does deliver, but for the cost it absolutely has to.

How much is it?

The at-home pressotherapy device is currently priced at £979 at Selfridges, a saving of around £130 from the normal price.

It is on the more expensive end, with similar products on the market for £150 to £300.

Pulsio’s compression pro boots are priced at £399.99, with some Fit King boots on offer for £299.99 on Amazon.

But the quality of the product is undeniably great and has multiple uses with the different modes.

Where can I buy it?

You can buy the at-home pressotherapy device on the Skinvity website.

It is also available on sale for £979.99 on the Selfridges website after prevously selling out.
