The President reacted angrily to reports that Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz again over the weekend owing to Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
He said the US might take over the strait, saying: “You close it and you won’t have a country.
“You won’t even make it back to your f**king country.”
Word quickly reached Iran’s negotiating team, who refused to continue the talks.

One leading Tehran politician warned America: “You make threats, we take action.”
But the bust-up was smoothed over and the talks in Switzerland restarted, continuing until 1am yesterday.
Mr Vance said: “They [Trump’s words] didn’t throw a wrench in the system.
“There was a little bit of threatening, but the talks continued, and we made great progress.”
One breakthrough was America lifting sanctions in response to Iran agreeing to admit nuclear monitors.
A 60-day waiver allowing Iran to sell oil was issued on the back of Tehran re-opening the strait.
Talks are set to continue this week.
