ARSENAL remain optimistic that Kai Havertz will return from injury before the end of the Premier League season.

The 26-year-old was forced off after just 33 minutes against Newcastle on Saturday.

He appeared to suffer a muscular injury, putting the remainder of his campaign in doubt.

Arsenal are understood to be hopeful that he will be able to recover in time for the last part of the Premier League title run-in.

The Athletic reports that early assessments have been more positive than initial fears.

And while he is expected to be ruled out for the Champions League semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday and the upcoming Prem clash with Fulham at the weekend, the Gunners hope he will return within weeks.
