Continuing their spirit, members of the Karnal swimming team from an all-weather swimming pool, which is a part of the Indoor Sports Complex in Sector-32 in the city, demonstrated outstanding in the Athrise Championship 2026, held at Chandigarh Tri City by clinching 18 medals.They have won eight gold, five silver and five bronze medals.Earlier, last month, the members of this complex have performed outstanding in the STAIRS winter swimming championship 2026, held at Castle Sports Complex in New Delhi, by clinching 20 medals, including nine gold, three silver and eight bronze medals in different competitions. The team members were given a warm welcome after their arrival at the Indoor Sports Complex.Davinder Lathar, who manages the complex, said Gargi Singh won four gold medals in different categories of girls including in 100 metres backstroke in the under-16, 100 metres IM, 50 metres backstroke, 100 metres freestyle. Similarly, Paramveer Singh Saini won gold in 50 meters backstroke in the under-14 boys category, Yuvraj in 50 metres breaststroke in the under-14 boys, Divyanshi in 100 metres freestyle in under-14 girls and Samaksh in 50 metres freestyle in the under-12 boys category.In the under-14 boys category, Virat Singh won two silver medals – first in 50 metres backstroke and 100 metres freestyle. Similarly, in the same category, Paramveer Singh Saini won silver in 50 metres butterfly, Divyanshi won silver in 50 metres butterfly in the under-14 girls category. In the under-12 boys category, Samaksh won silver in 50 metres backstroke, and Virat Singh won silver in 100 metres freestyle in under-14 boys.In the under-14 boys category, Aarav Arora won bronze medal in 50 metres backstroke, Paramveer Singh Saini in 50 metres freestyle and Lavish in 100 metres freestyle in the same category. Similarly, in the under-14 girls, Divyanshi won bronze in freestyle and Ananya in 50 metres butterfly, said Lathar.He said they have been providing state-of-art facilities to swimmers at this complex. Gargi Singh, who won four gold medals, expressed gratitude to her coaches and management of the complex. “We get a world class facility at this complex. Our coaches work with dedication to nurture our talent,” she added.
