KING CHARLES has agreed to sell a hugely ‘exciting’ Royal Ascot horse with Classic aspirations out of John Gosden’s yard.
Group 3-winning colt Point Of Law – who was this week given an entry in next month’s St Leger – is going to Australia in a major coup for racing Down Under.

Royal racing advisor John Warren confirmed the news, as reported in The Straight, saying: “I’m sure Their Majesties will derive great pleasure following Point of Law’s continued career in Australia.
“Like all owner-breeders, the majority of their colts eventually do get sold on and The King and Queen will be wishing Ciaron Maher and the new owners the best of luck for an exciting future ahead.”
Point Of Law is as short as 12-1 for the final Classic of the season at Doncaster.
An unlucky fourth in the Group 2 Queen’s Vase at last June’s Royal meeting, Point Of Law, who is by Frankel out of a Deep Impact mare, won the Bahrain Trophy Stakes on his final run.
Nursed into the race by John Gosden, he showed staying power and speed to surge home in the Group 3 during Newmarket’s July meeting.
He will now be aimed at the Caulfield Cup for top trainer Ciaron Maher, who was at Ascot and Newmarket to see the horse in action.
A colt of this nature could easily be expected to fetch in the millions – but the fee paid for Point Of Law is currently undisclosed.
