A deepening delay in LPG refill deliveries has hit consumers across four Malwa districts, with official data revealing a massive backlog of pending bookings across Indane gas agencies. As per the compiled report of 47 gas agencies, a total of 18,556 LPG refill bookings have been pending for more than 10 days, while 1,051 consumers have been waiting for over 20 days, raising serious concerns over supply chain disruptions. The situation appears particularly grim in Faridkot, where residents are currently receiving LPG cylinders 11 to 12 days after booking. On Tuesday, agencies delivered cylinders to customers who had booked refills on April 9 and 10, indicating a significant lag in supply.Officials confirmed that in Faridkot city alone, four Indane agencies account for 10,361 pending bookings till date, with 1,608 consumers still awaiting delivery despite placing orders on or before April 12, revealed the information from District Food and Supply Department.Insiders attribute the delays partly to logistical disruptions and tightening supply conditions, which are being exacerbated by the ongoing geopolitical tensions involving Israel, the United States, and Iran. Any escalation in the region has the potential to impact global energy supply chains, including LPG availability and transportation.Consumers across the districts have expressed growing frustration, stating that the delay is disrupting daily household routines. Many households dependent on LPG for cooking are being forced to make alternative arrangements, like electric stoves.
