A MAJOR UK motorway has been closed in both directions following a “police led incident.”

The M67 has closed in both directions between Junction 3 Hyde and Junction 4 Woolley Bridge, in Derbyshire.

National Highways warned drivers that the nature of the incident will likely leave the road closed throughout the day.

Contractors and emergency services are on scene assisting with traffic management.

Diversion routes are in place with no delays in the area at this time.

Drivers are asked to plan their journey ahead of leaving to avoid delays.

National Highways said: “The M67 has closed in both directions between J3 Hyde and J4 WoolleyBridge due to a Police led incident.

“Due to the nature of the incident, the road is likely to remain closed throughout the day.

“No delays in the area at present.”
