City’s pursuit of the midfielder, who has three years left on his contract, remains ongoing but Forest aim to get top dollar if Anderson leaves the City Ground this summer.

Rival Prem midfielders Enzo Fernandez, Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo have all moved for £100m-plus in recent seasons.

Manchester United have also held a strong interest in the 23-year-old, who is in line to start for Thomas Tuchel‘s Three Lions at this summer’s World Cup.

But the Red Devils are believed to be put off by the figures Forest want for the ex-Newcastle man while Michael Carrick‘s United have already agreed a £39m deal with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson.

City’s swoop for Anderson comes as boss Pep Guardiola is departing after ten glittering years in charge with Enzo Maresca tipped to take over.

It may take a new club-record fee to lure the midfielder away, with City’s current highest transfer fee the £100m they paid Aston Villa for Jack Grealish in 2021.

Anderson is currently with England’s squad at a training camp in Florida preparing for the global finals and the Etihad club would ideally like to get the big-money deal done before the tournament starts on June 11.

Meanwhile, Anderson’s Three Lions team-mate Alex Scott could make his England debut in the US — despite not making Tuchel’s World Cup squad.

They face friendlies with New Zealand in Tampa on Saturday and Costa Rica in Orlando four days later.

Bournemouth midfielder Scott is here to train with Rio Ngumoha, Josh King, Jason Steele and Ethan Nwaneri.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke — plus Crystal Palace keeper Dean Henderson — get an extra break after Euro finals.

But Scott could still get the nod to feature. Unlike the other training players, he was in Tuchel’s provisional 55-man World Cup squad.

If anyone gets injured, Scott would be eligible for a tournament call-up.
