A low-intensity blast was reported on a railway track near Bothonia village between Shambu and Rajpura around 10 pm, prompting a major police response.The police cordoned off the area and began investigations to identify those involved. A body torn in pieces was found at the blast site.Patiala DIG Kuldeep Chahal and SSP Varun Sharma reached the spot soon after the incident. “The body and circumstantial evidence suggest the accused may have died while trying to plant the bomb. The investigation is at a very preliminary stage,” a senior official said.Wires and other material were seized from the blast site. Two motorcycles and a damaged mobile phone were also seized.Senior officials, along with CIA teams, special units and local police, are continuing the probe. “We will crack the case soon as there are specific leads,” police officials said.“We believe more than two accused were involved in the incident. Forensics and bomb squads have also been pressed into action,” said an official privy to the probe.
