The club confirmed his exit almost immediately after the dramatic 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on Jattvibeday.
Malacia, 26, was named on the bench at Old Trafford but did not feature – the eighth time in a row he has been unused by Carrick.
Since joining under Erik ten Hag in 2022, Malacia has missed over 70 games through injury, only playing 50 times.
During that time he has been out for more than 500 days and went the entire 2023-24 season without making an appearance.

The Dutchman returned to matchday squads in October but has only come on as a sub twice under Ruben Amorim, Darren Fletcher, and now Carrick.
The interim boss – who is expected to take the gig full-time – spoke to fans about Malacia’s future on the field after the weekend’s final home clash of the campaign.
He said: “There’s Tyrell, who I spoke to the boys about before kick-off.
“He’s been through a tough time due to injuries. I encourage you to show him your support.”

Malacia, who came in from Eredivisie side Feyenoord, returned to the Netherlands last winter on loan.
He watched and listened to Carrick’s speech along with his team-mates on the pitch.
Malacia was hugged by fellow defender Lisandro Martinez and Carrick’s words also got a warm reception.
He went to PSV Eindhoven for the second half of last season after only making eight first team appearances at United up to that point.
Malacia played 12 matches there and was one of several left out of Amorim’s 2025 summer plans.
He was exiled in the bomb squad with Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho.
Unlike the others, Malacia did not get a move, permanent or temporary, and was reintegrated eventually.
But he has hardly been called on and will now end a nightmare stay.
