But according to Alan Nixon, he could be set for an emotional return to the club from which he started his career.
The club have first- choice Senne Lammens, who has impressed since arriving from Belgium in the summer.
Also returning from his loan spell at Trabzonspor is flop Andre Onana.
Time will tell how he figures into Michael Carrick‘s plans after taking the helm on a permanent basis last month, or if he will depart this summer.

And United are clearly not taking any risks, also signing veteran back-up option Tom Heaton to a one-year extension.
If Onana were to leave then Johnstone could slip into the squad as a second-choice goalkeeper.
Johnstone, 33, joined the club’s academy as a youngster before working his way up the ranks.
In 2011 he was loaned out to Oldham Athletic, the first of ten consecutive loan spells across the EFL.

He eventually landed a permanent move to West Brom, where he shone in the Championship.
Those performances saw him make his first appearance for the England national team, in a pre-tournament friendly after being named in the squad for Euro 2020.
He subsequently made the move to Premier League outfit Crystal Palace, where he was briefly made a starter.
But his spell was short-lived, before moving to Wolves on a four-year deal in 2024.
