Starring opposite Theo James, who himself is a favourite to become the new James Bond, bookies are now saying Maya is in the running to be a Bond Girl.

Bookmaker Coral has slashed the odds to down to 3-1 from 12-1 on Maya becoming the next Bond girl following strong support since the launch of series two of The Gentlemen.

“Maya Jama has certainly caught the eye, and it seems punters are already picturing her stepping into the world of 007,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“With her style, confidence and on-screen presence, it’s easy to see why the support for her to be the next Bond girl has come thick and fast.”

The highly coveted role of 007 and his new Bond girl are up for grabs after Daniel Craig stood down following his last Bond film, No Time To Die.

After spending much of her career focused on presenting, Maya has decided to once again have a crack at acting after ditching her ambition when she got knocked back from Skins.

The gritty teen drama launched the careers of Nicholas Hoult, Dev Patel and Kaya Scodelario.

She recalled earlier this year: “I got to the last stage with me and one other girl, and I was convinced that was going to be my big break.

“Then I didn’t get it, and I was like, ‘F*** acting. I’m never doing this again.’ And just completely gave up on the dream.”

Maya said: “[Acting] has always been something in the back of my mind, but I’ve just been so busy with presenting that I’ve never had the chance to pursue it.

“I never want to do something and it be s**t, so I was like, if I’m going to do it, I want to train with someone and get as good as I can.”

The Gentlemen is available on Netflix now.
