The incident happened during a shift at a Northern California McDonald’s.
A colleague attacked him before fleeing the fast-food branch even before police had arrived at the scene,
Yuba City Police Lt. Michael Bullard told ABC 10 that Jacob was “up walking around ambulatory and able to communicate with them, but had obvious burn marks on his upper torso and his face area.”
Police identified Jalani Bluett, 23, as the alleged attacker.
Sutter County Sheriff’s Office issues an “at risk missing person” appeal, saying that he was last spotted near McDonald’s on Harter Parkway in Yuba City.
“Bluett is considered at risk due to a diagnosis and vulnerabilities,” the post added.
After he was eventually arrested, Bullard said he was “held to answer on assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem, serious felony assault resulting in great bodily injury…”
Police have not given a motive for the attack – and Jacob also said he has no idea what led to it.

His mother, Amber Smith, said he is in “excruciating pain” and that the road to recovery will be long.
“As his mother, it broke my heart when he looked at me and said, ‘Why would he do this to me?,’” she wrote in a fundraiser.
Jacob is still in the ICU receiving special treatment more than a week after the incident.
His mother added: “He now faces a long and painful recovery process that will include ongoing medical care, treatments, and time away from work.
“At just 20 years old, Jacob has worked hard to build a future for himself.
“He is engaged to be married and has always been responsible, hardworking, and committed to those he loves.
“This unexpected tragedy has created a major setback at a time when he should be looking forward to building his life and planning his future.”
In a later update, she explained that Jacob is currently in the ICU burn unit because the pain of treating his wounds is “so painful that he has to be on very strong pain medication.”
“He has still been so positive during everything he has been through,” his mother added.
Doctors are understood to have scheduled Jacob for a skin graft surgery this Thursday.
So far, nearly $40,000 has been raised to help Jacob to help alleviate the financial burden of lost wages, living expenses and medical costs.
