At 58, Bihar-native Rampari Devi continued her family’s streak of electoral wins, bagging Ward 15 of the Bathinda Municipal Corporation.A homemaker, Rampari was fielded by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after the ward was reserved for women. Her husband, Aseshar Paswan, a construction worker, has previously served as a municipal councillor three times.Paswan’s family has resided in Bathinda for the last five decades. Their local ward comprises Beant Singh Nagar, Kacha Dhobiana and Dhobiana Basti — all areas with a sizeable population of migrant workers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.Speaking after his wife’s victory, Paswan said “Residents of the area have been facing sewerage-related difficulties for a long time. We will make every effort to fix the issue during this term.”
