The Department of Housing and Urban Development has instructed the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) to conduct drone surveys through an external agency to adopt a transparent mechanism for the identification of structures, trees, tubewells and other immovable assets for land acquisition.The instructions will be applicable to Aerotropolis, Eco City-III and all other acquisition-based development schemes undertaken by GMADA, reads a notification issued by Apneet Riyait, Special Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Punjab.Drone surveys will ordinarily be undertaken at appropriate stages of acquisition proceedings, including the stages of notification, declaration and award. The findings will be verified by a committee, including officials of Horticulture, Civil, and Public Health Departments, and GMADA.Based upon the verified survey findings, detailed estimates will be prepared for final valuation.The Mohali development authority will try to complete development works in acquired areas within three years from the date of award and taking over the possession of land, subject to the availability of encumbrance-free land, statutory approvals and other factors beyond its control, according to the notification. The Chief Administrator, GMADA, will submit a half-yearly compliance report to the department regarding the implementation of the instructions.Special emphasis has been laid on the development of villages and public infrastructure while planning and executing development schemes.GMADA shall take measures for the integration of village infrastructure with the urban infrastructure being created under its development schemes.
