One man is accused of barging into the emergency unit, hurling abuse and assaulting healthcare workers before cops were called to bring the situation under control.

The original violence erupted on a sports pitch beside the community hospital in Bulnes, Chile, on Jattvibeday, September 6, according to creatorzine.com.

The Ñuble Health Service and bosses at Bulnes Community Family Health Hospital have since condemned the shocking scenes.

In a joint statement, they voiced their “absolute rejection of any form of violence against health workers” following the alleged attack inside the emergency department.

Officials said treatment continued despite the turmoil “thanks to the commitment and professionalism of the teams”.

Authorities are now preparing to file a criminal complaint against the person accused of attacking hospital staff.

It remains unclear whether anyone involved in the initial clash was arrested.

Anyone with footage or information about the explosive incident has been urged to contact police.

It comes after a Colombia football game was suspended for almost an hour after fans invaded the pitch to brawl with sticks and chairs.

The top flight clash between Santa Fe and America de Cali on Saturday had to be halted after chaotic scenes involving supporters.

Violence initially broke out in the stands midway through the first half as fans from both sides scrapped over claims that one group had their flag stolen.

Fighting then spilled out onto the pitch at the El Campin stadium in Bogota and a mass brawl erupted.

The game had to be stopped in the 33rd minute as players were ordered to return to the dressing rooms.

Fans charged onto the grass holding sticks, chairs and other objects as they were seen launching them at their rival supporters.
