THIS is the moment a cop hitches a ride in a woman’s tiny Nissan Micra while chasing down and arresting a crook.
The officer had been pursuing erratic Jacob Roberts in South Wales when he was forced to jump in a bystander’s car to catch up.

Police footage captured the initial car chase, with Roberts swerving through narrow streets in Abercwmboi, with officers close behind.
Roberts eventually meets a dead end and runs out of foot.

The officer chases after him across roads and through a park, before stumbling upon the helpful driver.
The woman, driving a red Nissan Micra, responded to the copper’s calls by saying “Get in”.

She can then be heard asking “Where to?”
The officer eventually catches up to the criminal and arrests him shortly after.
People have been quick to hail the woman a hero, with many calling her a “legend”.

“She’s not a police officer she doesn’t have pursuit training yet was happy to put herself at considerable risk to help the police catch this man.”
Another said: “What a star the female driver was to offer help.”
A third said: “Somebody buy that officer and the assistant in the Micra a well earned pint.”
Roberts, from Mountain Ash, was jailed for one year and two months for dangerous driving and disqualified from driving for three years.
Appearing at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on September 16, he was sentenced to dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, failure to stop after a road accident, criminal damage to property, and possession of controlled Class B drugs.
South Wales Police said in an online statement: “When the van’s driver, 25-year-old Jacob Roberts, was asked to pull over, he instead drove off.
“During the pursuit, he twice reverse-rammed the pursuing police car, collided with parked cars, and showed a disregard for pedestrians going about their business.
“After running into a dead end just off Lewis Street, Aberaman, Roberts instead tried to flee on foot – but a police officer, in all his kit, followed.
“And when the driver of a red Nissan spotted the officer, she offered him a lift to help him catch up with Roberts even sooner.
“Roberts has now been sentenced for offences including dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, failure to stop after a road accident, criminal damage and possession of a controlled class B drug.”
