M&S has unveiled plans to close down one of its popular town centre food halls and open a new 18,000 square foot megastore with a bakery and wine shop.
The British retailer is planning to close its store on Aughton Street in Ormskirk, Lancashire.

The plans would see the store and its staff moved to another location – a former care home in Burscough, opposite a retail park.
M&S says the new store would be three times the size of the current food hall, and 25 new jobs would be created.
It would include an in-store bakery, more fresh produce, dedicated Flower and Wine shops, and a Click & Collect facility for online fashion, home & beauty orders.
Pete Dobson, regional manager at M&S, said: “Our store rotation strategy is all about making sure we can deliver the best of M&S, and the best possible shopping experience, for customers from every store we have.

“At this new location off High Lane, we can deliver a fantastic store for residents, offering exceptional quality, trusted value, and that touch of M&S magic.”
It comes as the retail giant is continuing to expand its presence across the country.
It’s already set to open four new stores in the UK over the next six months, including one in the Bell Green Retail Park in Sydenham, London, and another in Elephant and Castle.
A major revamp of its Pantheon Oxford Street flagship is almost complete, while the M&S Bankside store on Southwark Street is also being upgraded and both London branches are expected to reopen this July.
Richmond‘s branch on George Street is currently undergoing an extensive renovation which began on April 4 and could last up to eight months.
