The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners on Wednesday passed a resolution lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, surpassing Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The resolution noted that the coalition under Modi now governs three-quarters of India’s population.Noting that the NDA had ushered in an era of pro-incumbency, the resolution said the bloc today has governmentsHas governments in seven of the top 10 states with the highest SC population and eight out of 10 states with the highest ST population.”Since 2014, the NDA has expanded both in terms of parties and geography. It the NDA has formed governments for the first time in Haryana, Tripura, Assam and West Bengal; won historic mandates in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra; In Gujarat, BJP has been winning every election since 1995; in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP created history by being the first ever party in over four decades to return to power. The NDA is in power in almost all the states of the Northeast, many of which have high tribal as well as Christian populations,” said the resolution hailing PM’s policies as decisive, pro poor, pro farmer and far reaching. The allies said under Modi the global confidence in India had risen to unprecedented levels as mirrored in 15 trade deals covering 38 nations.”The world agrees that if one wants investment, innovation and long-term growth, India is the place to be,” the document says crediting PM Modi for bold reforms such as the Goods and Services Tax and labour reforms. At a time when the Cockroach Janta Party is intensifying protests, the NDA resolution lauded PM Modi for expanding opportunities for youth.”Youth from Tier-II and Tier-III cities as well as rural India are leading the next wave of innovation and job creation. Youth is finding the right opportunity and support. As a result, India’s presence on global sporting stages continues to grow. A thriving sports economy is emerging, generating opportunities in coaching, sports science, manufacturing, event management and allied sectors,” the allies said. They said a defining feature of PM Modi’s leadership is his conviction that the fruits of development cannot be a luxury reserved for a privileged few, but a fundamental requirement for national development. “There has been an emphasis on banking the unbanked, funding the unfunded, insuring the uninsured, housing the homeless, connecting the unconnected, reaching the unreached, empowering the underserved and mainstreaming the marginalised,” the resolution said, noting India’s zero approach to terrorism and describing the Modi led government as the “most farmer-friendly government in Indian history.”The resolution also noted policies that have unlocked the potential of regions previously underserved.Earlier in the day, the Union Cabinet passed a resolution along similar lines and gave a standing ovation to the PM.
