Honda is recalling nearly 100,000 vehicles due to airbag complications, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A capacitor inside the sensor’s printed circuit board can crack after exposure to humidity and could lead to a short circuit, the recall notice said.“In the event of a crash, the front passenger frontal and knee airbags may deploy” even if the occupant is an infant in a child seat, a child or a person below a certain size limit “for whom deployment should be suppressed, increasing the risk of injury,” Honda said.Most of the models affected include the Accord Hybrid, ​the Honda Acura TLX and specific 2022 Accord vehicles:2016-2022 Honda Civic2016-2022 Honda Accord2017-2022 Honda Accord Hybrid2017-2021 Honda Civic Hatchback2017-2018, 2021 Honda Civic Type R2017-2022 Honda CR-V2017-2022 Honda Pilot2017-2021, 2023, 2025 Honda Ridgeline2017-2020, 2022-2026 Acura MDX2018-2026 Honda Odyssey2018-2020 Honda Fit2018-2021, 2023 Acura TLX2019-2021 Honda HR-V2019-2021 Honda Passport2019-2022 Honda Insight2019-2024 Acura RDX2020-2022 Honda CR-V HybridHonda has received 228 warranty claims as of May 14, the recall notice said. The company also said it has no reports of injuries or deaths related to this issue in the U.S. between Feb. 4, 2021, and Oct. 30, 2025.Honda said registered owners will be contacted by mail and instructed to take their vehicles to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer, where the seat weight sensor will be replaced with a nondefective part.Owners are expected to receive notification letters beginning July 6 and can reach Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138, along with Acura customer service at 1-800-382-2238.
