As the CBI widens the probe into the NEET-UG paper leak case, the focus has shifted to students linked to Sawai Man Singh Medical College in Jaipur. The disappearance of Palak Bival, a first-year MBBS student of the college, has intensified the investigation. She had secured 522 marks in the NEET-UG 2025 examination and a percentile score of 98.61. Based on these results, she was granted admission to the college under the SC category. Her uncles, Dinesh Binwal and Mangilal, are among the accused in the case. According to professors at the medical college, Palak’s academic performance was not up to the mark. Following the investigation into the paper leak, she has reportedly disappeared from both the college and the hostel.Dr Monika Jain, Additional Principal of SMS Medical College, confirmed Palak’s absence from the institution.“She is a first-year MBBS student at our institution and has not returned to the college since the NEET paper leak case came to light. Efforts are underway to gather information regarding her whereabouts by questioning her friends and fellow hostel residents,” she said.Earlier, Prakriti Bival, a first-year medical student at Government Medical College in Dausa, was also reported missing. She is the daughter of Mangilal. Her brother Vikas Binwal, who is pursuing first-year MBBS at the Government Medical College in Sawai Madhopur, had also stopped attending classes from May 11.The college administration alleged that his overall academic performance was poor. Vikas had scored around 55 per cent marks in Class 12, while securing approximately 86 percentile in NEET. So far, 10 accused have been arrested in the case from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur and Ahilyanagar. Detailed interrogation is currently underway.“Investigation is continuing through special teams. The probe conducted so far has revealed the actual source of the leakage of chemistry and biology papers, which were circulated before the examination. Further, middlemen involved in mobilising students who paid lakhs of rupees to attend special coaching classes where likely NEET-UG 2026 questions were dictated and discussed have also been arrested,” the CBI said in a statement.Meanwhile, a high-level review meeting chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was held on Tuesday to assess preparations for the forthcoming NEET-UG re-examination. The minister directed that all gaps identified in the earlier examination process must be comprehensively addressed and eliminated.
