ENERGY Secretary Ed Miliband is planning to ban the sale of towel rails and gas fireplaces.
He also pledged yesterday to bar underfloor heating systems in his latest Net Zero push.

He wants to bring in new energy efficiency requirements that will result in more than a third of “space heating systems” becoming illegal to sell.
Plans are said to affect electric towel rails, gas fires and storage heaters.
Other plans mean households may only be allowed to operate towel rails for six hours a day, and heating may be cut off completely.

She added: “Ed Miliband has decided how you are allowed to dry your pyjamas and now he wants to make it harder to have underfloor heating.”
Simone Rossi, the UK boss of energy giant EDF, has urged Mr Miliband to stop the expansion of wind and solar power.
He said it is costing bill-payers a fortune and Britain already generates twice the electricity it needs.
The Government said it is aiming for “clean homegrown power” to eventually cut bills.
